During periods of fasting, many people enjoy eating dates as a gentle and natural source of energy. 🌿

But something that is often overlooked is the importance of preparing them properly before eating.

Dates are a dried fruit, and along their journey—from harvesting to packaging—they may collect dust or small particles on their surface.

For this reason, I like to follow a simple and mindful habit before consuming them:

1️⃣ Soak the dates in water with a little baking soda for about 10–15 minutes

2️⃣ Rinse them well with clean water

3️⃣ Allow them to dry naturally

There is also another small habit I find very helpful:

I never eat a date without opening it first.

I gently split it, remove the pit, and take a moment to check the inside.

It only takes a few seconds, but it brings a sense of care, awareness, and peace of mind—something that aligns beautifully with the spirit of fasting. 🌿
